Blonde Rhombus gets domestic

Before I cleaned up the apartment, I decided to put this cute little duck cookie cutter to use! I trashed the place to make some rolled sugar cookies and I have a stomachache from all the frosting I consumed, but they were worth it! Check out these sassy ducks!

Not bad for a day off. I'm going to pass out in a sugar coma for now and procrastinate cleaning a little longer.. Hope you're outside enjoying this beautiful weather!

Seeing red

First of all, I hope EVERYONE had a fantastic weekend and a great Memorial Day! I hope we all took time to remember and celebrate all of those who gave up their lives to serve our country. While I spent most of my Monday relaxing and playing video games, I dedicated all of my errand running to today while I had the day off to do it.

I ran over to Target to return ONE THING, and basically I got completely hypnotized (as always) but I finally came across these new lip stains I've been hearing so much about! I tried all of them on in the car on my way home and I'm obsessed with the colors. They're all soo flattering and I'm not regretting buying all three at the same time.

Have you had the chance to try these out yet? If so, what do you think?

Borrowed from the boys

FINALLY got my hands on some boyfriend jeans that don't make me look homeless! These babies were a steal at Gap for only $35.00 during their Memorial Day sale. Niiccceeee.

I love how comfortable they are since I've gotten so used to wearing skinny jeans that feel painted on at times. I don't think I'll ever go back! I wanted to keep my outfit feminine without screaming bag lady with all the extra fabric in the borrowed shirt and the slouchy jeans. I whipped out my favorite heels, a leather clutch, and gave my hair that effortless "bed head" look that I'm getting increasingly convinced NOBODY actually wakes up with. It took me forever to pull off this morning and it started going stick straight the second I walked outside.

Ended my photo op with some coffee and eggs. Happy Sunday, everyone!

Crazy plant lady

It's FINALLY warming up in Chicago! I can't believe that it took this long, but it's impossible to be bitter when we have gorgeous sunny days like today. I took the chance to tend to my poor withered garden and plant some new beauties! Here are a few pictures I took after everyone was planted, watered and trimmed. Hope you can enjoy this beautiful weather outside!

Bye bye chapped lips!

Happy Tuesday! I was applying my favorite matte lipstick and quickly realized that my flaky chapped lips were ruining the entire look. Usually I pick a glossier shade which conceals and moisturizes, but I've been extremely into drier, bold colors lately and I just cannot hide these chapped and rugged lips anymore. I usually whip up a batch of this fresh lip scrub around the winter and spring months to use in the shower or before I brush my teeth. It's super easy to make and will leave your pout super silky soft!

You will need..

  • Granulated sugar (brown sugar works fine too)
  • Honey
  • Coconut oil

I snagged a small sample pot from Lush to keep my scrub in. It's the perfect size and you can re-use it for tons of things!

I took about 2 teaspoons of sugar, a pea sized amount of coconut oil, and a few drops of honey and mixed it all together until the sugar was barely wetted with the oil and honey. I prefer a drier, grainier scrub, but you can always add more or less of any of these ingredients to get it how you like! Once you're all done mixing, place a pea sized amount on your lips and gently buff them in a circular motion. When mine are REALLY bad, I follow up gently with a soft, clean toothbrush and apply chapstick directly after. Wah-lah! You have yourself some soft and shiny kissers.

Feel free to apply all those dark, matte, or super light shades now at no expense! The world is your oyster.

Summer storms

First week of my summer break! I finished up with my finals last week, and I've been waayy too lazy since then. If I didn't have to work or cat sit, I probably wouldn't leave the apartment for days. I had the day off today, so I ran outside before the rain hit to snap a few pictures of my favorite sprawling plant in the alley. Every year, it gets HUGE and takes over the entire wall shortly before producing beautiful white flowers. I'm going to keep the windows and screen door open all evening to let the fresh air (and bugs) in.

A few of my favorite things

Not going to lie.. This week is such a nightmare already! I've hardly had any free time in between the work, studying, class, commuting and the final exams but thankfully, it'll all be over soon. Woohoo! A celebration and some pampering is definitely in order after this hellish week.
I'm thinking maybe I'll get a nice dinner somewhere, maybe a margarita and a mani pedi ;)

I took a little study break and threw together some of my recent awesome finds I've been obsessed with this month. They surprisingly go well together, don't they? Keep your eyes peeled for some of these little guys in future posts!
